Lamb is for Dinner
Have you ever made lamb before? Most Americans haven't, the only time we ever eat lamb is at an ethnic restaurant such as Indian or an upscale (another word for expensive) American restaurant. But the paleo diet plan encourages you to include lots of variety in your diet and this includes getting a variety of animal protein in the mix from foods like lamb and deer.
Lamb is tasty and it's also good for you. It is a great source of omega 3 fatty acids, minerals like zinc and selenium and B vitamins. So if you haven't eaten or cooked lamb before, don't be scared to try something new because your body and your taste buds will definitely thank you for it.
I actually never cooked lamb myself until I found out about the paleo diet plan and now it's my favorite meat. Once you start making lamb recipes yourself chances are that you will feel the same way.
Learn How To Make Lamb
Okay so if you have no idea where to start I will share I very quick and simple lamb recipe I made just a couple days ago.
All you need is:
-2 grass fed organic lamb steaks (to my surprise Trader Joes had rows of lamb steaks a couple days ago at the one in Studio City)
-Fresh Sage
-Fresh Rosemary
- 3 tbsp Butter
Here is how you make it:
Chop the herbs, melt the butter and mix it together. After that just season the meat to taste with pepper and salt and pour the butter sauce over it. Once that's done heat about 1 teaspoon of butter in a sauce pan on medium heat. When the pan is hot place the meat in the pan. Let the one side cook for about 8 minutes and flip it over to let the other side cook for about 8 minutes. That's it. It's all done.
Side Dishes
This goes great with a mixed green salad. Just get some mixed greens throw in any veggies of your choice (such as shredded carrots, tomatoes and cucumbers) and top it off with some olive oil, lemon juice and sea salt.
Lamb steaks also go well with mash cauliflower which is such a yummy alternative to mashed potatoes and without the carbs (great if you're trying to lose weight).
So the next time you want to make a paleo diet plan meal to die for try something new... try lamb steaks.
Until next time, eat well.
