Go Natural With The Paleo Diet Homemade Honey Mustard Dressing

Your Salad is Not That Healthy
Usually when you order a salad from a restaurant or make one for yourself, you do it with the intention of being healthy right? Otherwise you would just order a large pepperoni pizza and call it a day. However, most of the time the dressing used to top your salad off with is absolutely horrible for your health. Store bought, pre-made dressings such as ranch and ceasar are full of all kinds of unhealthy chemicals like preservatives, artificial colors, artificial flavors, high fructose corn syrup etc. These things wreck havac on your health and are completely unnecessary. So all the times you thought you were being healthy by eating a salad you were actually filling your tummy up with toxins.
Eliminate Processed Foods and Start Cooking for Yourself
Well the paleo diet encourages eliminating these processed foods and chemicals from your diet. This means no fast food and pre-made foods (with some exceptions). You would be surprised at all the goodness that you can create without all this junk. The paleo diet teaches you how to make your own dishes, sauces and dressings. Trust me, once you try paleo diet foods made with simple whole ingredients, you will not want to go back to store bought processed junk ever again.
Homemade Honey Mustard Dressing
So one of my favorite salad dressings is honey mustard so a couple weeks ago, I decided to make it myself following a recipe in my paleo diet recipe book. It is a perfect example of how to transition from pre-made foods to paleo approved ones. All you need in order to make this is a couple simple ingredients including the following:
-2 cups of olive oil
-Lemon juice from once fresh squeezed lemon
-2 garlic cloves
-2 table spoons of dijon mustard
-2 table spoons of honey
-salt and pepper
Simple ingredients makes for a great dressing. Mince the garlic and put everything together in a bowl except for the oil. Mix everything until it's blended well. Next, slowly poor in the olive oil with the rest of the ingredients while stirring. Stir everything until blended well.
Love Your Dressings
Now top your salad with your very own homemade dressing, this is dressing that you can be proud of and that your body will thank for. This recipe is one of the many ways the paleo diet can assist you with ditching our modern processed foods and going back to the basics.
Not only does this dressing go great with green salads, it goes wonderfully as a dipping sauce for meat dishes such as the almond crusted chicken dish I shared in a previous article. Let the paleo diet plan help you go natural and feel great.
