Looking for some recipes for ground beef other than plain old hamburgers? Try these delicious and easy-to-make meatball sandwiches for a nice change of pace!
Ingredients
1 pound lean ground beef
1/3 cup bread crumbs
2 large eggs
1-2 tablespoons tomato ketchup
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
1 tablespoon dried oregano
20-30 dinner rolls or hamburger buns
Forming the Meatballs
Making this recipe for ground beef couldn't be easier! Start by placing all of the meat into a large mixing bowl. Simply dump the bread crumbs, ketchup, salt, cheese, and oregano on top. Finally, lightly beat the eggs in a cup or small bowl, and pour them onto the meat mixture.
Now it's time to get a little messy! With clean, damp hands, mix everything together in that mixing bowl. You can do this with a big wooden spoon if you like, but using your hands makes the whole process much quicker.
To form the meat mixture into balls, get your hands clean and damp again. Now, form the meat into about 25 little meatballs. They don't have to be perfectly shaped, but you want to make sure they are evenly sized so that they cook evenly.
Cooking and Serving
The easiest way to cook this recipe for ground beef is with an oven. Simply grease a baking sheet with canola oil or olive oil, place the meatballs on it evenly, and slide it into a 350 degree oven for 15-20 minutes or until cooked through.
If you've got just a bit more time, however, there's an even better way to cook them! First, brown the meatballs in a skillet on medium heat in olive or canola oil. To finish cooking them and to make them really moist, put the browned meatballs into a pot of simmering tomato sauce and cook for another 20-30 minutes.
Whichever way you choose to cook this group beef recipe, get the buns ready by cutting them in half and making a slight indentation in the bottoms. Cut your meatballs in half to make them sit easier on the bread, and place 2-3 halves per sandwich. You're done!
