Multi-Grain Buns Recipe For Your Homemade Hamburger Recipes

Recipe for Multi-Grain Buns
What You Need
  • 4 packages dry active yeast
  • 2 ½ cups hot water
  • 6 Tablespoons sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons salt
  • 6 Tablespoons vegetable shortening
  • 2 cups hot water
  • ¼ cup corn flour
  • ¼ cup medium rye flour
  • ¼ cup oat flour
  • ¼ cup barley flour
  • ¼ cup whole grain brown rice flour
  • ¼ cup oat flour blend
  • ½ cup cracked wheat
  • ½ cup oat bran
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 8 to 9 cups bread flour
How to Make It
Prepare a large baking sheet by lightly coating it with cooking spray and then set aside until needed.
Using medium to large size mixing bowl add the corn flour, medium rye flour, flour, barley flour, whole grain brown rice flour, oat flour blend, cracked wheat, oat bran and whole wheat flour. Mix to blend well and then set aside until needed.
Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
Using the 2 ½ cups of hot water you will dissolve the dry active yeast.
Using a large mixing bowl, you will add the dissolved yeast, the sugar, salt, and vegetable shortening. Mix to blend and then add the hot water to combine completely.
Gradually add the dry flour mixture and stir well to combine until the texture is smooth. Gradually stir in the remaining flour to create an easy to handle dough.
Lightly sprinkle some flour onto a clean dry surface and then turn the dough out onto the prepared surface. Knead for about 10 minutes or until the dough is elastic and smooth in texture.
Add just enough vegetable oil to a large mixing bowl to grease the dough. Place the dough into the greased bowl to cover the bottom and then turn the dough with the greased side up. Cover with a clean, dry dishtowel and place it in a warm area for about 1 ½ hours to allow the dough to rise and double in size.
Punch the dough down and then divide into bun size balls. Shape them into buns and then place them on the greased baking sheet about 2 inches apart.
Cover again using a clean, dry dishtowel and allow the multi-grain buns to rise for about 1 hour to double their size. After allowing the buns to rise and double in size, place in the preheated oven to bake for about 25 to 30 minutes or until they are done.
